Dumfries resident Zackery Maurice Thomas, 25, is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a woman on Tuesday afternoon and then coming back the following morning for seconds, according to investigators.

Members of the Prince William County Police Department were called to the 15800 block of Isben Place in Dumfries at approximately 1 p.m. on Feb. 27 to investigate a domestic dispute.

Police say that Thomas and a friend got into a verbal altercation that ended with him striking the 20-year-old, taking her phones, and wrapping his legs around her neck before leaving the area.

Minor injuries were reported and a warrant was issued for Thomas' arrest, though they were unable to find him until around 4:30 a.m. the following morning, when officers were called to the same residence to investigate another reported assault.

Upon arrival, officers found Thomas, and he was detained without further incident.

According to investigators, during the second dispute, Thomas allegedly prevented the woman from leaving the room and assaulted her multiple times before she was able to get free to call the police.

Thomas was charged with strangulation, grand larceny, and domestic assault and battery.

His next court date is pending and bond information was unavailable on Thursday.
